Eudora was started by Steve Dorner at UIUC. Qualcomm then brought the rights and hired him to develop it for their use. They then decided there was an external market for it. I started using it in about 1995. Although Qualcomm discontinued Eudora in 2007, I kept using it until about 2009. I still miss so many of the features and the way it worked.
Nonetheless, it is time for people still using Eudora to plan a migration strategy, or to at least find a desktop client or web service for new e-mail. Some resources include:
