Email Backup

No matter where your mail is stored, it is imperative that you back it up just like any other files you would not want to lose. Having your mail stored on “the cloud” is not a guarantee; your host could go under, have a technical glitch, or you could accidentally delete an entire folder of e-mail. General:

  • Outlook Express Backup Genie. Supporting the top 9 popular email clients, Outlook Express Backup Genie is a handy utility created to easy and safe backup the email data, and to restore when neccesary. Can be used to:
    • easy transfer emails, attachments, stationary and all other
      email data from one computer to an other ( from desktop to laptop and
      vice-versa, or from a old computer to a new computer )
    • easy transfer the email database from an old version of windows
      to a new one ( backup email on old windows, install new windows and
      email client, and then easy restore the emails ).
    • protection agains viruses, hdd-crashes and other problems, as
      the Schedule function can be set to perform backups at specified time
      intervals ( at the end of each day for example ), and if ever the user
      will have a problems with his/her computer the backup will get the
      email data back in no time!
    • the backups can be optionally protected with password (and
      strong 128bit encryption).

Entourage:

  • Entourage Email Archive (EEA) or Entourage Email Archive X (EEA X) is a simple and fast utility for archiving emails and attachments you have received or sent using Microsoft Entourage X in Mac OS X. Entourage Email Archive X can archive your email in three different ways.

Eudora:

Please note that while there are no known or reported bugs, this plugin is no longer in active development.

It saves email messages, address book, message rules, list of blocked senders, accounts and signatures into a single backup file; and restores the saved data back to Outlook Express.

*Of course, you should backup your entire hard drive at least nightly!
